Brushing your teeth in a national treasure
Of course Pasadena’s Arts & Crafts masterpiece, the Gamble House, is undeniably gorgeous. But could you actually live there? Each year, two USC students find out, living there long-term as part of the only program of its kind in the country. One past resident remembers the first month as “a little unsettling,” but says she got used to it pretty quickly. “One morning, from the second floor, I saw the staircase glowing,” she says. “I discovered rich yellows and reds pouring through the Tree of Life stained-glass on the front door as the sun rose.”
