Desert estate built by Gucci heiress listed by Aaron Kirman and Mimi Starrett of Aaroe Estates
Aaron Kirman, President of Aaroe Estates, the luxury properties division of high end residential brokerage John Aaroe Group, and division director Mimi Starrett have listed Casa Azzurra, the Mountain Center compound of British fashion heiress Patricia Gucci, for $7,500,000. Set on a rare 23 acres nestled against Joshua Tree National Park, the secluded, gated property commands breathtaking views of the San Jacinto mountains, desert and city lights. It is sequestered just a fifteen-minute drive from the elite shopping and dining of Palm Desert’s El Paseo Drive. “Perhaps only once in a lifetime does a property like this come on the market,” says Ms. Starrett. “The expansive, elevated and private lot, together with the impeccable attention to detail throughout the estate, make this a once-in-a-lifetime acquisition for a buyer who wants to enjoy both the serenity and beauty of the desert and the upscale environment of El Paseo.” Gucci is the granddaughter of Guccio Gucci, who founded the Italian fashion company bearing his name. Her father, Aldo Gucci, expanded the brand worldwide. She bought the site as a desert escape in 1993. She replaced its one-bedroom casita with an 11,000-square-foot, ten-bedroom, ten-bathroom main house plus two magnificent guest houses. She and her family lived in the home full time for several years, with her children attending school in Rancho Mirage. Today, she says, "My life and family are in Europe, and I no longer have time to enjoy this little corner of paradise." A magnificent blend of indoor and outdoor living space, the two-level estate reflects an open, contemporary Moroccan style. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the dramatic vistas, including views of three of Southern California’s highest peaks. The sweeping outdoor spaces, including a lavish pool and spa, tennis court and hiking trails, blend seamlessly with indoor spaces like the home theater, living room and great room to make this the ultimate entertainer's compound. Among the other features are an art studio, bar, breakfast room, den/office, dining room, library/study and large kennel. “We are honored to be representing Patricia Gucci and this world class estate,” says Aaron Kirman. “It will be rewarding to unite it with a new owner who, like Ms. Gucci, will cherish the experience of living there.”
