Landmark Ocean View Estate in Pacific Palisades listed by Aaron Kirman of John Aaroe Group
One of the first significant estates in Pacific Palisades, a 1937 landmark on the coveted Huntington Palisades bluffs, has been listed for $14,985,000 by Aaron Kirman, President, Aaroe Estates. The majestic three-story Traditional mansion overlooks serene ocean views and lush vistas of Rustic Canyon and the Riviera. “This distinguished and beautiful estate has been a key part of the fabric of Pacific Palisades for generations,” says Kirman. “It’s an honor to be entrusted with introducing it to the family who will treasure it into a new era.” The property has been given a meticulous and sensitive full custom restoration by Shain Development, Inc., which dismantled the entire structure down to the framing and doubled its size to 11,000 square feet. No detail was overlooked in the painstaking renovation, and every element is one of a kind. “We recognized the importance of retaining this landmark’s stature,” says Greg Shain. “There was so much history there, and we wanted to respect and preserve that.” Exterior walls were thickened to allow doors and windows to be recessed. Over 40,000 reclaimed white bricks were used for the façade. All interior woodwork, including 25,000 lineal feet of molding, was custom designed. Nine-inch planks of ebonized white oak were employed for the wood flooring. The master bath was outfitted with imported English LeFroy Brooks fixtures, and Ann Sacks tile work was used throughout. The grounds surrounding the gated estate were designed by landscape architect Daniel Busbin, who chose Pennsylvania blue stone for a series of entertaining terraces and patios. Highlight plantings include an amazing array of California native specimen trees, including thirty-foot Redwood Sequoias, California Oaks and magnolias. Because the Pacific Palisades community revolves around family living, the redesign focused on accommodating a large family. The floor plan includes seven bedrooms, ten baths and three family rooms, one on each level. On the lower level, a media party area with full bar opens to a 1,000-square-foot outdoor retreat. The spectacular grounds feature a BBQ and bar area, fireplace, pool and spa, and expansive lawn. House systems can be controlled via iPhone or iPad. “This grand and gracious manor has been a beloved Palisades icon for as long as most locals can remember,” says the firm’s CEO, John Aaroe. “As one of its many admirers over the years, I’m especially pleased that Aaron and our company have been chosen to help begin its next chapter.” 580 Chautauqua Blvd | Pacific Palisades | $17,000,000
