Our goal has always been to be the most caring neighbor in the communities we serve. For us, that means actively working together to make local life better. Since we first launched a foundation at Aaroe Associates in the mid ‘90s, our team efforts have invested over $2.6 million for good, right where our agents live and work.
Our team has chosen to give Foundation funds to local causes that focus on community, education, the environment and health care — areas where we know we can make a real impact. Our Foundation helps the Aaroe team make LA a better place in countless ways: a seeing eye dog acquired, warm meals delivered to the terminally ill and school supplies and after-hours programs for kids in low-income areas to hospice doors kept open, shorelines cleaned and local preservation supported, and so much more.
A portion of every Aaroe transaction goes to the Foundation, and a board representing all our agents meets every month to review applications and award grants. Recent recipients have included LA’s BEST, offering safe, supervised after-school programs to school children 5 to 12 in the City of LA … the Special Olympics, whose World Games will be held in LA this summer … and The Gooden Center in Pasadena, helping men break the cycle of alcohol and drug dependency.
Aaroe agents and offices also organize fundraising efforts throughout the year. Many offices hold monthly cocktail parties to socialize and raise money for the Foundation. We held a pie drive for Project Angel Food. A poker night at the Pasadena office raised $25,000 for the Rosemary Children’s Services.
Our presence is as powerful as our funds, says longtime supporter and Board Member, agent Adrian Grant of the Aaroe Beverly Hills office. “We regularly expand the ranks of AidsWalk LA, and Aaroe agents, families and friends are already planning to fill the stands at the LA Special Olympics and forming cheer teams,” she says. “It’s our way of sharing the joy.”
