Studio City, here we come

Looking for small-town charm with a sophisticated edge? Welcome to Studio City. Set in the north foothills of the Santa Monica mountains minutes from Hollywood, Downtown and Beverly Hills, it’s one of the Valley’s most centrally located communities, defined by a long history and a rich show biz culture. Studio City sprang up in the silent movie era around the 200-acre movie studio opened by slapstick king Mack Sennett in 1927. Republic Pictures bought the place in 1935, and it later became the CBS Studio Center. Today, Studio City residents are a creative mix of actors, musicians, writers, artists, studio execs, and workers at the many studios and entertainment-related businesses in the community — along with others who simply love the neighborhood and the tuned-in but relaxed lifestyle. Homes in Studio City come in a range of architectural styles, and many enjoy spectacular views of the Valley. While accessing the best of LA is easy from here, there’s plenty to keep people close to home. Quaint boutiques, antique shops and outdoor cafes line the main street, Ventura Boulevard. Dining choices range from popular hangout Firefly to what may be the largest concentration of sushi restaurants in Los Angeles. The Sunday farmer’s market is one of the best in the Southland. Nature and the active life are close by, too. Great hiking and walking paths in the adjacent Santa Monica Mountains include Fryman Canyon Park, home to spectacular views and TreePeople Center for Community Forestry. The rec center in Beeman Park features a huge array of sports programs for adults and kids, an awesome playground with handicap features, and more. Clearly, the Jewel of the Valley shines brighter every day.
