John Aaroe Group | Pacific Union opening in Highland Park
Highland Park was one of the first of the reemerging areas in Northeast LA, and the LA Times still lists it among the top five hottest metro neighborhoods in the city. Just a few Metro stops from Downtown, it has some of the best nightlife in the area, a creative heart that attracts art lovers, and a longtime history that produced a treasure trove of Craftsman homes and historic landmark buildings.

John Aaroe Group | Pacific Union International has just made the neighborhood its newest home, transforming the iconic 1928 Frank’s Highland Park Camera building at 5715 North Figueroa Street into a 4,300 square foot creative space. “We’ve been searching for the perfect space here for the past year, and we’ve definitely found it,” says company EVP Gus Ruelas.

Located a block from the spectacularly renovated Highland Park Bowl, the building also houses barbershop, bar and restaurant The Blind Barber and the studio of producer, musician and Highland Park native Skrillex. Otoño, a Spanish tapas bar, will open at the end of the year.

Ruelas notes that the interior design approach for the building was similar to the one for the company’s historic Tanner Market Square office in Pasadena. “Our goal was to honor the architecture while creating an exceptional creative space filled with beautiful light and inspiring energy,” he says. “We’re looking forward to filling that space with the most skilled real estate professionals in the area and our innovative marketing support, and to becoming a part of the vibrant Highland Park community.”

Managed by Gary Mazziotti, the office will open later this year, with a grand opening slated for January 2018 to coincide with the firm’s rebranding as Pacific Union International.

With this move, John Aaroe Group becomes one of the first significant real estate companies to open an office in Northeast LA. It's a fitting finish to the company’s best year ever.
